Transloading in Savannah: A First of Its Kind Facility
On December 5, NFI and the GPA marked the opening of Savannah's newest transloading facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This project, a first of its kind in the country, tackles previous port capacity issues by capitalizing on the GPA's visionary approach, NFI's operational prowess, and Savannah's promising trajectory toward an expanding and optimized supply chain. Explore the project's origins, its current operations, and its impact on regional growth through remarks by Griff Lynch, CEO and President of the GPA, and Sid Brown, CEO of NFI, available in our ceremony recording.

"This facility is going to increase the speed of getting products through the port to the domestic supply chain. It will eliminate the need for chassis and provide added capacity that will eliminate most, if not all, of the variability in drayage costs - providing more predictable costs for our customers. And predictability is what they are looking for."
"I want to thank NFI for making the investment here with the Georgia Ports Authority. They haven't just done the minimum, they've gone all out as an operator. Alongside the TICO yard tractors and bomb carts, these things are going to help this facility run in a way that's more efficient than any other building you're going to find on the planet."
"In this building, we created a training center, which will be the regional hub to train over 2,100 NFI employees in this area. We take pride in advancing the career opportunities in our workforce, and this facility will help us achieve that goal. We're excited to provide a career path to current and future employees in the Savannah region."
